Gary Dransfield
Chair
Gary joined the Hollard Board in September 2021, was appointed as Chair of Hollard Group from 1 October 2022 and is currently the Chair of the Remuneration Committee. He has also served as Chair of the Projects & Technology Committee.
Gary is currently Independent Chair of The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia, Chair of Emergence Insurance, a Non-Executive Director of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority and MDA National Insurance, and was previously Chair of the NSW Government Ministerial Advisory Panel on Apartments Defects Insurance.
In his 35 years in financial services prior to pursuing a non-executive career, Gary worked primarily at Suncorp Group, Insurance Australia Group and St George Bank, having held executive roles across a range of functional areas such as distribution, marketing, technology management, product manufacturing, operations and corporate affairs.
His most recent executive roles were as CEO of Suncorp’s Australian general and life insurance businesses, CEO of Suncorp’s Customer Platforms operations and CEO of Suncorp’s New Zealand general insurance businesses.
He is a past President, Deputy President and Director of both the Insurance Council of Australia and Insurance Council of New Zealand.
Gary is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Richard Enthoven
Non-Executive Director
Richard Enthoven is the founder, and former Chief Executive Officer (1999 to 2021), of The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd and the co-founder of Greenstone Financial Services Ltd and PetSure Australia Pty Ltd.
Richard currently serves as the chairman of Greenstone and a director of Hollard Holdings Australia and PetSure Australia. Richard is also a director of Trupanion Inc, a leader of medical insurance for cats and dogs throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Puerto Rico and Australia.
Richard served as a director of the Insurance Council of Australia from 2013 to 2024, including deputy president from March 2017 to November 2017; president from 2017 to 2019; and deputy president from 2021 to 2024.
Richard also served as a director of The Hollard Insurance Company and The Hollard Life Insurance Company in South Africa from 2004 to 2014, including chairman of both companies from 2008 to 2014.
Richard holds a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Southern California.
Karl Armstrong
Independent Director
Karl joined Hollard’s Board in June 2019, and is the Chair of the Reinsurance Committee. He has 50 years’ experience in the insurance industry with specific experience in Underwriting, Reinsurance and Management with 18 years in the UK market. He held the role of Chief Executive Officer of NZI from 2008 to 2014, then he was appointed Chief Risk Officer for IAG NZ.
From January 2016, Karl’s role at IAG NZ also incorporated closure of Canterbury Earthquake claims and direction of the new Kaikoura event. He also had responsibility for the Pricing, Product and Underwriting across all brands of IAG NZ before retiring in 2018.
Karl is a Fellow and Past President of ANZIIF and was on the Board from 2010 to 2020. In 2014, he was awarded the “Insurance Leader of the Year” for NZ and in 2017 received the ANZIIF Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 2022 Karl became an Independent Director of Ando NZ.
Noeline Woof
Independent Director
Noeline Woof joined the Hollard Board in 2018 and is Chair of the Risk Committee, she has also been Interim Chair of the Remuneration Committee. Noeline is also a Director of Pacific Life Re (Australia) and Westfund Health Insurance. She has senior executive expertise in risk and financial management in regulated markets and deep knowledge of general insurance, health insurance and injury compensation schemes.
Noeline was Chief Risk Officer and Chief Actuary at Allianz Australia from 2011 to 2017 and prior to that was an Actuarial Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers for 6 years. She also worked with APRA as Senior Policy Advisor on the Life and General Insurance Capital reforms.
Noeline is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Kate Burleigh
Independent Director
Kate joined the Hollard Board in October 2023 and is Chair of the Board Projects & Technology Committee. She has over 25 years’ experience leading digital transformation in the consumer lifestyle, retail and ICT sectors with her most recent roles being Country Manager and Director Amazon Alexa, Australia/New Zealand, where she led the business in the developing field of conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI). Prior to that, she was Managing Director, Intel Australia/NZ where she presided over the transition from personal computing to cloud computing.
Kate is driven by how technology can positively impact society with her non-executive directorships including the national children's cancer charity, Camp Quality and the Board of Governors, Wenona School.
She has a Masters of Business and Marketing, University of Technology, Sydney; a Bachelor of Arts, University of Sydney; is a Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors and an elected member of Chief Executive Women.
Richard Deutsch
Independent Director
Richard joined the Hollard Board on 1 July 2024 and is Chair of the Board Audit Committee. Richard Deutsch has an extensive audit, risk and governance background and over 30 years’ experience across corporate Australia, particularly the financial services, property, real estate and for purpose sectors. He has held significant executive roles for over 20 years at Deloitte and PwC, including as CEO of Deloitte Australia from September 2018 to April 2021. Prior to the CEO role, Richard was the Managing Partner of the Deloitte’s Assurance & Advisory Practice. Richard’s career also includes more than 25 years working with PwC, including nine years as PwC’s Australian executive.
Richard is an Independent Director of Bendigo & Adelaide Bank Ltd and Chair of their Board Audit Committee. He is also a Non-Executive Director the AUB Group Limited and Chair of AUB’s Board Audit and Risk Committee. Richard is passionate about supporting organisations that have a positive impact in the community and is currently global Chair of the Movember Foundation. Previously, he was Chair of OzHarvest and Director of Adara Group, a charitable organisation focusing on international development in emerging economies. Richard holds a Bachelor of Economics from Sydney University and is a Fellow & Chartered Accountant of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ). His past directorships included serving as President and Chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (now Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand).
